WABI SABI STYLE: LUXURY IN IMPERFECTION

WABI SABI STYLE: LUXURY IN IMPERFECTION

This is a philosophy for calm, imperfect living: the complete antithesis of fast interiors and flash-in-the-pan interior trends. So the choices that you make as you wabi-sabi your home should be sustainable ones based on comfortable, practical living and well-made, timeless pieces that bring joy. Here's how to bring some of this mindset to your home.

Six Log Baskets for Cosy Living

Six Log Baskets for Cosy Living

With autumn just around the corner now, our thoughts are gently turning to cosier nights and to retreating indoors for the colder months. For those of us lucky enough to have an open fireplace, log burning stove or wood burner at home, a handwoven log basket would make a beautiful, versatile and practical addition to your hearth.

SHOW YOUR STRIPES

SHOW YOUR STRIPES

'Stripes bring order and structure to a space and have the ability to redirect the eye. When incorporated into an interior scheme, they inject a dose of understated elegance and sophistication.'

Deckchairs, tartan picnic rugs, beach huts, gingham tablecloths, lighthouses, circus big tops - it's no wonder that checks and stripes make us feel good.

Artysan Trend for a Brave New World

Artysan Trend for a Brave New World

The pandemic has left a deep, permanent imprint in our lives and in our homes. In the absence of new experiences and discoveries, we’ve redrawn our boundaries and sought adventure much closer to home.  Our homes have always been our castles but for many of us they have for the first time become symbols of self-expression...

Meet the Leatherworkers Who Have Upskilled in Basket Embroidery

If you’ve come across our glorious embroidered baskets since we launched the collection in 2019 you might be familiar with the story behind them. We collaborated with British illustrator Jacqueline Colley who designed the playful and popular motifs (rainbows, cacti, a slice of watermelon, a pineapple and a llama) and Kenyan artist Nduta Kakikuri who hand embroidered every single basket herself, from her workshop in Nairobi.
How to Nail The Basket Wall Trend

With more than 41,000 posts under the hashtag #basketwall on Instagram, wall baskets, decorative wall fans and fringed woven wall hangings bring natural texture to any space. Colourful fans and baskets hung on walls can cleverly link colour schemes and create a sense of harmony and flow between rooms. We spoke to Interior Stylist Dee Campling who offers her wisdom on the value and beauty of handwoven basketry and wall hangings in the home.

SIX *VERY* VERSATILE HANDWOVEN LAUNDRY BASKETS

LAUNDRY. Love it or loathe it, it’s an inescapable fact of life and something that has to be done – week in and week out. 21 Beautiful Storage Baskets For Decluttering Your Home

As we count down the final few weeks before we can socialise and MAKE PLANS again, spring cleaning and decluttering are high on the agenda for many of us. Good home storage has, for many, been a sanity saver over this past year – and for every storage conundrum, we have a woven basket.

CHOOSE THE WORLD YOU WANT: FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT 22ND FEB - 7TH MARCH 2021

Since Fairtrade Fortnight's aim this year is to highlight the challenges climate change presents to rural farmers, we’d like to show you a short film we have made about the chairlady of one of the basket weaving groups we work closely with in Kenya: Madam Dorcas Ndinda, a farmer and greengrocer.

STEP INTO MY OFFICE...

STEP INTO MY OFFICE...

With the beginning of a hopeful new year and home working likely to be a long-term cultural shift all over the world, it feels like a good time to get more intentional and creative with our home work spaces. With most of our team now largely working from home both in the UK and in Kenya, we’re having discussions about what rituals, adaptations or small purchases are helping us work better and work happier.
