Introducing the bold MALIZA duo colour block baskets, new for 2019 and designed exclusively by The Basket Room. According to Pantone, SS19 interiors will be awash with palettes filled with ‘creative and unexpected’ combinations, like this joyous combo of neon pink and biscuit.
These beautiful, ethically-produced baskets come in three sizes so there’s scope to use them all over the home: on your desk, in the bathroom, and even in the kitchen or on the dining room table, filled with fruit or bread. For more inventive ways to use and reuse your baskets, consult our basket uses page HERE
These baskets are handwoven by a small collective of female weavers living near the Masinga Dam in Kenya – one of seven dams on the River Tana. Their chairlady started managing basket production in 1993, and today she leads several groups with specific production roles from twisting to dyeing and weaving sisal fibres.
Backing all the values of fair trade, our work with weaving cooperatives empowers women to support their families with a flexible income in the dry seasons, where subsistence farming often fails to meet the needs of the family. When you take home one of our woven baskets you actively support these weavers and their families, supporting our commitment to dignified working conditions. You can meet the weavers HERE.
