Breathe a little colour into your storage systems with the fresh turquoise stripes of our KUBEBA woven storage boxes.
Use your woven baskets as stylish nursery storage for toys and books, or pop a couple on your bathroom shelves for a co-ordinated and simple way to keep toiletries, hand towels and loo rolls in one place. Robust enough for kindling and for stacking with magazines and newspapers, these square storage baskets can be deployed all over the home for an instant style update. Don’t forget that all our storage baskets can also be used with those perennially popular IKEA cubed shelving systems too!
Every one of our woven storage baskets – also known as bolga baskets - take up to three days complete, crafted from a wild-growing Ghanaian grass called veta vera (or ‘Elephant Grass’). Even before weaving can begin, this grass must be collected and split by hand, then hand-rolled and dyed before a skilled weaver from our partner weaving cooperative can begin her work.
Purchasing one of our woven storage cubes means that you become a part of our mission: supporting the Ghanaian weavers in a truly fair and reliable trade, providing an alternative source of income to farming communities whose main income can be unstable. Every woven basket comes with a thank you card from the co-operative that made yours. You can meet the weavers from Ghana HERE.
