Bring a little Ghanaian sunshine to your home or office with our gorgeous, buttery-yellow AIBU cubed storage baskets.
Hand woven skilfully by a member of the Northern Ghana weaving co-operative, each basket can take up to three days to complete and is made from a local grass called veta vera. This grass is harvested, split, rolled and dyed by hand before weaving begins – a lengthy and highly skilled process at every step.
All of our storage cube baskets – also known as bolga baskets - are compatible with IKEA cubed shelving systems, and these colourful woven baskets can also be used as robust and stylish storage in bathrooms, living rooms, nurseries and even by the fireside.
The majority of the weavers in the Northern Ghana cooperative are agricultural workers, and basket weaving has become a source of alternative income for these communities to supplement unpredictable earnings in the dry seasons. To take home one our woven baskets is to become an important part of our journey: supporting the weavers in a fair and sustainable trade. You can meet the weavers from Ghana HERE.
