North Eastern Region Kenya
Our beautiful handcrafted Pambo Palm baskets are made by the Ngurunit weavers in Samburu, North Eastern Kenya. Each has been skilfully woven using doum palm leaf. Traditionally the Samburu and Rendille people would have woven these baskets to milk their camels, coating them in a waterproof substance and smoking them to make them watertight. A dying art, the basket weaving has now been revived using the traditional Rendille weaving style and adding Samburu designs and beads to make them a usable, decorative home accessory.
