BUHERA: Natural Woven Bowl
Traditionally in Zimbabwe, Buhera bowls are used to store dried food and fresh fruit. Use yours the same way and display on your kitchen table or use yours for storing and displaying jewellery on a dresser, or hand towels in your bathroom. These woven bowls will bring gorgeous organic texture and genuine function to any table setting, from the minimalist and modern to more rustic table arrangements. No two bowls are quite the same.
Woven from local reeds and ilala palm, these natural woven bowls are produced by women in the Manicaland province of Zimbabwe. The craft collective we partner with works with 28 weaving groups in this region, each with 50 -100 active members. Farming is the main source of income for these women, but basket weaving enables families to make a sustainable income during the arid seasons.
